# Retrieve categories and public authors

> Read categories and public author profiles with article counts, then use their slugs to filter published posts within your authenticated workspace.

Categories and public authors help you organize and retrieve your publication’s articles. All API responses stay within your authenticated workspace.

## GET `/api/v1/categories?page=1&limit=15`

Categories with published articles. Each item includes `name`, `slug` and `articleCount`.

## GET `/api/v1/categories/product-updates`

A single public category. Get its articles with `/api/v1/posts?category=product-updates`.

## GET `/api/v1/authors?page=1&limit=15`

Public authors with published articles, including name, slug, avatar URL, job title, about, workspace role and article count. Missing optional fields are `null`.

## GET `/api/v1/authors/alex-morgan`

One public author. Get that author’s articles with `/api/v1/posts?author=alex-morgan`. Author resources are unavailable when Show Author is disabled.
